See legends come to life on your Central Florida vacation when you stay in the Manatee Sighting Room at the Night Swan B&B.

Check into the Manatee Sighting on the first-floor of the Cygnet House, and you may see mermaids swimming in the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. At least that's what legends say the European explorers claimed to have seen when venturing to the New World. Modern historians surmise that those explorers actually were sighting manatees in the distance in Florida's coastal waters.

Whatever creatures make their way in, upon or above the waters of the Intracoastal, will be visible from the Manatee's sitting room. Windows face east and north and run the entire length of this bright room. Whether relaxing on the upholstered love seat or sitting by the ten-foot window, you will be able to spend time viewing the many pelicans, seagulls, herons, dolphins, or manatees that pass by (and any of those elusive mermaids who happen to show themselves).

The bedroom features a king bed with high-back pine frame, a matching chest of drawers, ceiling fan, and a window with translucent glass blocks that let in natural light while maintaining your privacy.

Glance at the old photos on the wall, taken of this area and the Old Fort just north of here in 1908, and you realize that the waterway itself rolls on much like it has across the centuries.

The Manatee Room includes a closet in the walkway leading to the bathroom, which has hardwood pine floors, like the entire suite. The bathroom includes an oversized, whirlpool tub and shower, and more of those translucent glass blocks that let natural light inside.
