A space fit for a captain indeed, but our third-story, crown jewel has a view befitting a deck-hand up in the crow's nest. Double, side-by-side windows look over the tops of palm trees and onto a panoramic view of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway.

Sit on the window seat that runs the entire length of the windows, or sit on the love seat perfectly perched a few feet away from the windows, and you may find yourself eye-to-eye with pelicans, white egrets, blue herons, and seagulls gliding leisurely over the river. Higher than the masts of the schooners drifting lazily in the Intracoastal, you will peer over the mangrove trees beyond the waterway. Catch a sunrise or moonrise and you will feel as if nature is putting on a show just for you. What more could you ask for in a Florida beach vacation?

The original cypress wood ceiling and walls follow the steep, dramatic angles of the roof, and ensconce each of the suite's two queen beds -- at opposite ends of the room -- in an artsy, unique ambiance. Tucked in a corner beside the window, rests a painting of the captain himself.

The tiled bathroom includes a shower, a pedestal sink, floral wallpaper, and a small, antique wooden table. The room also includes a roomy closet for hanging clothes and shelves for more of your belongings.
